A very crazy thing, this ability to choose who you, the Rez members want to help lead the guild. And this race for the 3 Elected Officer positions is a prime example.

When I first considered holding "Associate Officer" elections I thought to myself, "its a guild tradition, one that differentiates us from most of the other guilds on the server, and one that gives the membership an ability to directly affect the course and goals of the guild, for better or worse." Because I took leadership of Rez in order to preserve that tradition and uniqueness I felt that "Associate Officer" Elections were a necessary part to what defines us and what makes us a different guild from all the rest.

With that being said, I felt some changes needed to happen to the process....

First off Elected Officers I felt should have all the rights and privilages of that of the Permanent Officers, kick, ban, invite, guild bank privilages, etc...

Second I felt that Elected Officers should have the ability to become permanent, such as is the case with Zaratrhustad after his 2nd term as an "Associate Officer."

Now I know I keep using the terms "Associate Officer" the old school of thought, and "Elected Officer," what I consider is the new school of thought because there is one other change that I decided upon around midweek that I had been thinking about for the past 3 weeks, since Class Leaders were selected.

Our guild structure is this...

Guild Master - Charnoth
Perm. Officer - Wishingstars
Perm. Officer - Endlessabyss
Perm. Officer - Xephongun
Perm. Officer - Zarathrustad

It was always the guild leaderships intention to carry a minority in "Associate Officers" and thats where I thought with "Elected Officer" things should change. We are stronger because of our diverse group of Voices and our ability to be led by a Council, not a dictatorship as most guilds become. Yes, the Rez Guild Master does have final veto powers I guess you would call it but thats the catch with leading this guild, as a GM of Rez you are stronger when you listen and chart a path using the advice your advisors give you, so why not ensure that your core of advisors are strong and well rounded.

Thus the final change to the "Elected Officer" position that will differ from the "Associate Officer" position, and that is that there will be EQUAL number of Elected Officers to that of Permanent Officers. (This means 4 Elected Officers)

Know that I came to this decision midweek, know that it had nothing to do with the Election count itself, but that I felt that some things needed to change, and that with a guild so full of brilliant people and such high class and talented individuals, that I felt it was necessary and needed.

So, After I have written this GREAT WALL of text I will now release the totals of the votes, which I am sure some of you know because you do that crazy thing called math.

Vote#1Vote#2Vote#3Totals
Chaoscutie2114
Wanja1113
Nirve1010929
Neblon2226
Richead991129
Sonofaliche109827
Ohspylac1001
Shockakahn8101129
Koit1214

And as Koit would say "Looks like we got a nice little 3 way going on here" with the top three voted spots all tied at 29 and Sonofaliche being the next in line at 27 votes.

Thus your New Elected Officer's for the next 2 Months who's terms will end on 3/22 and new week long Vote will occur from the 22nd-28th of March. (Nominations the week prior)

Elected Officer #1 Nirve
Elected Officer #2 Richead
Elected Officer #3 Shockakahn
Elected Officer #4 Sonofaliche

Congrats to the new Elected Officers, I welcome you aboard my staff and the Council for those who are new to /0 chat.

Thanks again to everyone who took the time to vote in this election, it was really great to see such a large percentage of the guild get involved in the process. When you look at the number of ACTIVE members in the guild, and the number of people who actually voted, I think we had probably close to 80% turn out. That really stands out to me as a group of people that are interested in taking part in guild decisions, which is what lends us so much potential to be one of the best guilds on the server.

I also have to say that I think Char's idea to have four Elected Officer positions is a good one, as it's very obvious to me that the guild as a whole thought that there were four very strong choices to take this role on. Even at the very end the votes were jumping around so much every time a new person would vote that none of us had any clue if we'd actually be in the top three, and I think all four of us have some strengths that will be a big boon for the guild.

I look forward to seeing you all at my Inauguration speech, to be held tonight over Malygos' corpse. :-)
